Evolution IV - RECAP

Evolution IV in Atlanta GA, was a blast. The location, relapse theatre, provided some really nice walls that local graff artists got to cover,  making the bg of all the video footage look like the even was held in some real  hip hop church of some sort. There were constant ciphers upstairs and downstairs. Three downstairs, with three different types of floors (linoleum, the wood panels, and a linoleum with grip).
Upstairs there was 4 linos taped down and a nice hard wood stage floor where main battles were held.

By far some of the best crew battles I've seen live in a while.
Check out Strife.tv later for my commentary on the battles. Also a EVO IV DVD will be produced by Strife.tv.

The footage all came out nice, nice lighting, dope bgirls repped from Japan, as well as some other bgirls I've never met before from east coast and mid west. I met Bgirl Maresco from Virginia, she threw some rounds with me, so did Naj from Seattle, and some other local girls. Mystify and Severe had an exhibition battle. There were some really great routines pulled out by Body Carnival from japan, and Dynamic Rockers from Queens.
Winners of crew battle was a super crew calle FLYING FISTS, featuring some key bboys like Domkey, Napalm, Mijo, Flying Buddha, Toys...

I'll write more later.
Lack of after parties, but we did manage to get to one, when it was almost over, it was freezing in some crazy warehouse area with lowriders, and some hard poppin funk music.
Movie One vs Narumi Exhibition Battle
Last night i witnessed one of the best one on one bgirl battles I’ve ever seen in my life.
Movie One (Lunatiks, Spain) vs Narumi (Body Carnival) At Evolution 4 in Atlanta, GA.
Narumi was also entering the crew battles with her crew and did the crew prelims before her exhibition. Both girls measuring in at what I call “optimized for breakin” heights, (under 5′ tall) are well respected b-girls in the world, and have really put in their time battling all around the world, repping hard at national events and battles both bboy and bgirl battles.
Narumi is one of the best bgirls in the world, amongst many other dope bgirls in japan. Noted, in an interview with strife, she states that the bgirls are treated equally as the bboys, and are not given easy props for just being a girl. She says it’s not good for the bgirls to get such great props for doing just head spins.
Movie One is known for having a sweet refined cleaned style, versatility, originality, and flavor combined with power and foundation.
The girls battled first 4 rounds, and the panel of 5 judges voted each round who the winner was. After 4 rounds it was 3 points(Narumi) to 2(Movie).A point meaning a win on that round. There was then a pause because MC Trixx had to explain that one more round was given chance to see if Narumi was the winner. If movie won the next round they’d be tied and have to do yet another round.
After the next round, Although Movie was still clean and well rounded in her throw down , Narumi won the last round with her explosive 2000, and Movie was just a smidge tired.
The whole room was hyped up about the battle and all attention was on this battle… the crowd went wild for both girls… and I know every single bgirl who was in the room is definitely inspired to push them selves harder.
I’ll do a round to round recap later once i look at the footage. Props to movie and Narumi, two of my favorite bgirls in the world.

Peace,
bgirl Peppa the Hot Steppa
Youtube is having tech difficulties and we’ll get the footage up soon
